Since the development of disposable
diaper in the 20th century, hygiene has been one of the most pressing global
issues. Cloth diapers dominated the market for a few decades, but disposable
diapers have become more comfortable, thinner, and environmentally friendly.
Increased awareness has also led to a dramatic increase in the use of
sanitation products. The development of a sanitary cloth diaper was the first
step toward the development of this industry. However, the demand for these
diapers has decreased since then.
The most important part of a Diaper
is the absorbent core layer. The materials in the core trap and retain the
fluid. The core material, or fluff, is made from wood pulp or wheat or
corn-based materials. Super Absorbent Polymer, another type of absorbent material,
is another type of absorbent material. Its main purpose is to trap the fluid.
Some people say that this is just a line extension, while others believe that
it is innovation.
Almost half of new mothers in
advanced economies are millennial. Despite the aging
population, a quarter of the U.S. population is now under the age of 30. This
generation is tech-savvy and spends a significant portion of their income on
diapers. Unlike the traditional consumer demographic, millennial are less
likely to feel connected to retailers. For instance, in December 2021, FISH
Community Food Bank received a green light from the Washington State Department
of Commerce, U.S., to establish a diaper bank as a subsidiary of their food
supply chain. With these changes, it is vital that diaper manufacturers find
ways to connect with the vast majority of consumers.
While the demand for diapers is
currently driven by children, the trend is changing as adult’s age. The average
age of the world is getting older. This means that the supply of diapers is
increasing as well. The biggest concern is whether these companies will
continue to survive. It is a question of quality and affordability. Many
consumers are choosing a diaper based on the design and color. Some
manufacturers are even designing the diaper with the child's preferences in
mind.
